Drexel in national spotlight … though not for good reasons

drexel logoDrexel swung by Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., earlier this week on its way back from California following last Friday’s win over Cal State-Northridge. And the Dragons played Kentucky, which is currently the No. 3 team in the country. While ordinarily there wouldn’t be much to say about an 88-44 loss because the final score pretty much says it all, the Dragons became a national story because the win was the 2,000th in the history of the Kentucky program. The game also gave several writers the opportunity to delve into Dragons coach Bruiser Flint’s close friendship with UK coach John Calipari, though we suppose the less we say about that, the better. After all, it’s Christmas.

Now 6-6, Drexel hosts Rhode Island at the DAC on Tuesday.
