‘Nova gets commitment from NYC power forward (updated)
The New York Post reported late last night that Jayvaughn Pinkston, a 6-6 power forward from New York’s Bishop Loughlin High School, has verbally committed to Villanova. Bishop Loughlin is the same high school that produced former ‘Cats standout Curtis Sumpter.
Scout.com has Pinkston ranked the No. 7 power forward in the country and describes his game as “Charles Barkley meets DeJuan Blair,” which is high praise indeed. Rivals.com has him as the No. 15 power forward and No. 67 recruit overall for the Class of 2010. And ESPNU has Pinkston as the No. 27 power forward and No. 100 recruit overall.
Pinkston is the third member of ‘Nova’s Class of 2010 recruiting class, joining Markus Kennedy and James Bell, both of whom signed letters of intent during last month’s early signing period.
UPDATE: Mike Kern of the Daily News‘ Philly Hoops Insider said it looked like Pinkston was headed to Tennessee not too long ago. But Pinkston changed his mind and is indeed coming to the Main Line.
And for your viewing pleasure, here’s a video that might allow you to get a glimpse of Pinkston’s game:
