Temple loses heartbreaker at Georgetown, 46-45 (updated)
Temple’s matinee affair as part of ESPN’s marathon just ended, and this one was especially brutal in the first half. Then, at the end, the Owls allowed Greg Monroe to score for the No. 19/20 Hoyas with 6.5 seconds left before Luis Guzman’s attempt to go coast-to-coast was blocked with just 0.3 seconds remaining. We’ll post more when time permits.
UPDATE: The Owls had this one. They trailed by 12 early in the second half, but they led by three with 2:21 to go and couldn’t close out. It’s the first time since Dec. 30, 1995, that Temple held an opponent under 50 and didn’t win — a span of 68 games. Details from Mike Kern’s gamer in the Daily News here.
Temple (1-1) hosts Siena on Saturday in its first game of the year at the Liacouras.
