TSN’s DeCourcy doubts ‘Nova on Yarou’s age
Three days after publishing a report that Villanova freshman Mouphtaou Yarou may in fact be 25 years old, Mike DeCourcy (pictured) of the Sporting News is still not buying ‘Nova’s side of the story. DeCourcy questions comments made by ‘Cats coach Jay Wright during an interview with Mike Missanelli of ESPN radio on Wednesday. According to this post at VUhoops.com, Wright questioned the credibility of the international web site that indicated Yarou could be 25, and not 19. He also re-iterated that all of Yarou’s paperwork, including a birth certificate sent over from Africa since this all came to light, checks out. And the thing is, absent any substantive proof beyond what’s on that international basketball web site, what’s really not to believe about Yarou’s actual age? Where is the smoking gun in this case?
Duh duh duh!
