Other Big East players would want to play for Jay Wright
At the Big East media day in Noo Yawk two weeks ago, FanHouse polled the 37 players who were present on a variety of topics about the league. The players’ names were not used, but they were not permitted to vote for their own school in any of the categories.
One of the questions was which coach would they most want to play for. And the winner was none other than Jay Wright of Your Villanova Wildcats, who got 29.7 percent, or 11 votes. Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim was second with 24.3 percent, or nine votes.
Interestingly, Pitt got the nod as having the best fans, with ‘Nova earning just two votes. (Couldn’t be because ‘Nova fans tend to ride the refs incessantly when they’re not cheering, and that the close proximity of the seats at the Ski Lodge means it’s easy to hear all that yelling and carrying on. Nope. couldn’t be because of that.)
The Ski Lodge, incidentally, was also listed as the third-worst arena in the league, trailing only the Louis Brown Athletic Center (Rutgers) and Carnesecca Arena (St. John’s). Oh, and Scottie Reynolds was named the league’s second-best player behind Notre Dame’s Luke Harangody.
