Scottie Reynolds to stay at ‘Nova

reynolds2Scottie Reynolds, who will forever be known as The Guy Who Made That Shot to Beat Pitt, has decided to stay for his senior season at Villanova. Yesterday, ESPN.com’s Dana O’Neil reported that Reynolds was “leaning toward” coming back to the Main Line. Then, just a short while ago, the university confirmed that Reynolds had indeed made up his mind — and the NBA can wait.

Last week, The Inquirer’s Joe Juliano wrote a story in which Reynolds said “[h]e was getting a lot of advice strongly in favor of his staying at Villanova.” But the story’s lede also stated plainly that Reynolds felt he indeed could play in The League. No word on what NBA teams, if any, were willing to draft him as a likely point guard who stands 6-2. Our take all along was that Reynolds was wise to stay in school, but just as wise to at least take advantage of the opportunity to work out for NBA teams and get a feel for the process. No matter what, no one can blame him for that.
