He was best known for coaching the Detroit Pistons to back-to-back NBA titles, and for coaching the legendary Dream Team that won Olympic gold in 1992, but Chuck Daly cut his teeth in the 1970s as Penn’s head coach. In six seasons in UCity from 1971-77, he went 125-38, won four Ivy titles, three Big 5 championsips and twice went undefeated against the city. Your Saint Joe’s Hawks have finalized plans to play an early-season tournament at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, from Nov. 20-23. La Salle had played at the Jam last year, giving UConn fits before losing to Southern Miss and beating Valparaiso. The Hawks are slated to open the tourney with a Nov. 20 game against Boston College of the Big East ACC. Other participating teams are DePaul, East Carolina, Northern Iowa, Purdue, South Dakota State and Tennessee. Complete details from the Saint Joe’s web site can be read here.
